About The Hospice of Baton Rouge: A Legacy of Compassionate, Patient-Centered Care

About Us

Founded in 1984 to meet a critical need in the community, The Hospice of Baton Rouge has been a leader in end-of-life care. Our founders, driven by a vision of compassionate care in familiar surroundings, established the city's first hospice program, ensuring that patients could spend their final days in comfort and surrounded by loved ones.

About Us: Baton Rouge's Trusted Hospice Since 1984

Our Story

The vision of Mr. Don Berlin, Dr. David Lion, and Dr. David Kahn came to fruition when The Hospice Foundation of Greater Baton Rouge was established in 1984. Faced with terminal cancer diagnoses, Mr. Berlin and Dr. Lion both desired to spend their final days at home. However, no hospice services were available in Baton Rouge at that time. Collaborating with their oncologist, Dr. Kahn, these men successfully laid the foundation for what is now The Hospice of Baton Rouge.
